Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Global Transaction Banking strategy in the Caribbean & Central America ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

The Senior Manager Payments, CCA is accountable for the overall payment products strategy formulation and implementation of GTB related product mix, value added functionality and delivery of the service across Corporate, Commercial and Small Business Banking segments across the Caribbean and Central America. The incumbent is also responsible for maintaining product/portfolio competitiveness while identifying opportunities for business development to drive sustainable growth, achieving fair market share, ensuring sales process are efficient, adequate product pricing (maximizing profits), monitor monthly product P & L reporting, and business line profitability across segments. This role requires strong written business case writing skills, strong communication skills, project execution skills, marketing experience, and people management experience.

In fulfilling the role, the incumbent will be supporting the creation and enhancement of global technology products. This will require them to be able to work independently and as part of a cross-functional global team, focused specifically on the Caribbean and Central America regions. The incumbent will work closely with key internal Partners (e.g., Information Technology, Security, Control Functions and other business partners) and external partners such as third-party vendors, suppliers and consultants as needed to lead, co-lead and/or support the development of digital business banking solutions and ultimately contribute to the achievement of the International Banking Deposit strategy objectives. Strong leadership, negotiation, change management and strategic influencing skills across multiple levels of the organization will be required to successfully execute based on the collective needs of all stakeholders.

What You’ll Do:

  • Drives the Product Development and Implementation of GTB Payment Products and Services.

  • Leading the development and implementation of new products and policies, product enhancements and features to acquire and retain profitable customers and meet customer needs.

  • Assessing the economic and financial feasibility of new product opportunities, ensuring a reasonable rate of return for services sold and a sound competitive position and making recommendations.

  • Identifying, formulating and recommending short- and long-term product and tactical opportunities to support segment objectives and implement and maintain an active product development and launch cycle;

  • Creating product presentations and documents targeting internal audiences and senior executive.

  • Making recommendations for the establishment of pricing strategies for Payments value-added products, and other key strategic value propositions such as Merchant.

  • Working with other product teams, such as the Merchant Team, in developing and maintaining a full understanding of Merchant Acquiring market share and potential for value-added products by country.

  • Ensure the communication of new/enhanced products / related policies and procedures to internal and external partners.

  • Drives the profitability and market penetration across segments (Corporate, Commercial and Small Business) by:

  • Developing specific strategies by segment and by country, using existing products and platforms, in order to increase Cash Management penetration, Core Deposit growth, and grow number of merchants.

  • Tracking profitability and manage the portfolio growth by segment for the individual markets we support.

  • Having an understanding of the existing products and potential products using existing capabilities and working together with the sales team, as well as external and internal partners.

  • Developing business cases and supporting presentations for identified opportunities, that support the growth and maintenance of the business

  • Keeping abreast of regulatory compliance requirements and interpreting their impact to the business, and developing an action plan to address these needs as required

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

What You'll Bring:

  • Degree / post graduate degree, preferably in business

  • 5+ years’ experience in Cash Management and Payments industry, or in-depth understanding of the global payments marketplace and regulatory environment

  • Experience working on large technology projects using industry-standard delivery methodologies (e.g., Agile/Scrum/Kanban) and tools (JIRA/Confluence)

  • In-depth understanding of delivery networks of financial products and services within the context of the Bank’s sales and service strategies across the various delivery channels

  • Strong decision making, forward thinking and creative problem-solving skills to anticipate and respond quickly to technological/market influences

  • Be results oriented and innovative in identifying and pursuing opportunities to leverage capabilities to increase revenues, decrease costs and mitigate risks

  • Spanish is an asset.

Work Arrangement:

  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.

  • Environment is high pressure, complex, fast-paced with changing priorities

  • Review and development of complex materials and information

  • Aggressive deadlines and unplanned operating problems are expected at this level

  • Regular internal, external and cross-functional meetings

  • The position requires longer than normal hours

  • Occasional travel may be required; usually planned
