Ford Motor Company Body Interior Craftsmanship Engineer in Nanjing, China

Interior craftsmanship engineer role defines all interior surface interface execution with margin / flushness definition to guide studio for surface release, doing CAD / VR check from customer standpoint trying to find out all potential appearance risk before CAD frozen, avoiding later tooling change during launch.

Craftsmanship also needs to evaluate physical vehicle craftsmanship status for competitors at program early stage, doing our vehicle craftsmanship audit during launch phase, so normally craftsmanship work needs to do a lot of benchmark study to get an acute insight, in order to make proper and accurate judgement.

  • Physical vehicle craftsmanship audit for benchmarking and program target setting based on competitor’s audit data.

  • Studio surface evaluation. Attend studio related meetings, provide design theme related aspirational ideas, figure out potential craftsmanship related risks from surface check and work together with studio and function team to align issue solutions, etc.

  • Conduct craftsmanship DPA2 check (CAD & VR check) at program each milestone to find out all interior craftsmanship potential risks and provide issue resolution proposals, attend engineering related feasibility meetings to deep dive into function related issue resolutions.

  • Define interior parts interface detailed 2D sections including execution proposal and margin / flushness definition, follow up with dimension engineering, manufacture, and cross function teams for competitive section book definition and release.

  • Work with cross team such as manufacture, program and other attributes, etc. to ensure craftsmanship target (ingredient and demerit) can be robustly met until FDJ.

  • Launch support of craftsmanship audit / issue resolution tracking during each launch phase on the plant, closely issues follow up with cross teams to ensure issues can be solved robustly and program target can be met until JOB1.

  • Bachelor’s degree or above, major in engineering or related

  • Fluent oral and written English

  • Good communication skills with cross function teams

  • Able to take initiatives, able to organize and take lead on issue discussion

  • Interior engineering knowledge background preferred

  • Excellent Catia skill / tooling experience is preferred
